Message from the Headteacher- Mr Lacey

I hope you had a good holiday. I am really excited about the new term, and I am looking forward to it immensely. Everyone at the school is committed to improving what we do for our children and young people despite all the challenges we face. I know I can count on your support, but please let us know if we get it wrong or can do better. Your son/daughters class teacher will be in touch to introduce themselves very shortly – so if you please let them or me know if you have any suggestions how we can support him/her while at school. My email address is a.lacey@baskvill.bham.sch.uk

Welcome to Baskerville

We welcome our new Assistant Head – Kay Morgan-Green – who will be leading our curriculum over the next year. Kay joins us from Oscott Manor School, where she was Assistant Headteacher. I am sure you will all have the opportunity to meet her over the next term. We also give a warm welcome to our new career’s teacher Paul Carbery.
Windsor Olympus

Staff and students have successfully made the move to Windsor Olympus Academy (WOA). There has been some snagging issues and operational challenges, but staff are working closely with WOA to overcome challenges. Importantly, the students have been patient and respectful of the shared space, in fact they have been fantastic. We are looking forward to accessing new shared spaces within the forthcoming weeks via a booking system. Whilst KS4 & 5 have been busy at WOA, KS3 students have also spent their first week in the new Portacabins at Baskerville. The environment has fostered an enhanced level of tranquility. Staff and students are ready to engage the new curriculum with its increased creative offer. Watch this space for more details over the coming weeks.
Training Days for 2024-2025

Each year we pick 5 days upon which we carry put training to develop our staff so we can improve school. I am sorry but this year we have had to put all in the first term. The first three were at the start of the term allowing us time to all become trained in Team Teach and get ready for the moves to the new classes and the new school. We have also taken two days the 8th November and the 6th of December for our phonics training- Read Write.
Playscheme 2024- What a success!

The 2024 Baskerville Playscheme, judging by your feedback was an overwhelming success. About 22 young people attended each day and took part in a multitude of exciting activities and visits. Greg led a fantastic team of staff, and everyone had a wonderful time. It is our intention to open the scheme to all Baskerville pupils- this year’s being an initial trial to see how things went- so it looks good for next year!
School Website
Our new website is now online. We are still working on it but take a look at www.baskerville.school. The website contains lots of useful information such as school uniform, school meals, term dates etc. It also contains up to date information that we need to share with you. Shortly it will contain other features like photos of our pupils taking part in activities in school- I will be contacting you about this feature shortly.
